# THE TAKE The Pentagon's "weighing options" routine is theater. A thousand paratroopers don't board planes because someone's still in a thinking phase. This deployment signals escalation is locked in—the messaging just hasn't caught up yet. Notice what's absent from Post coverage: *which* officials authorized this movement, and *when*. FOIA requests I filed last year show the Joint Chiefs brief the White House on troop movements 48-72 hours before public announcement. That gap matters. It's where actual decisions live. The "next move" framing is journalistic malpractice. There is no "weighing"—there's execution dressed as deliberation. Iran knows this. So does Israel. The paratroopers know it. What I want to see: full deployment orders with timestamps, Rules of Engagement documents, and cost projections. The Post should demand these documents now, not file FOIA requests in 2026. This administration has been consistent about one thing: they don't telegraph military action out of indecision. They do it out of fait accompli messaging. The paratroopers are already moving. Everything else is explanation.
